The BELL Garden is currently host to 6 laying hens. Our “girls” are an extremely popular attraction of the garden. The girls have a large open space in our orchard in which to roam while volunteers are on site. When the garden is empty the girls go into a fully protected coop area to keep them safe from predators. We have a dedicated staff of helpers, our “chicken tenders”, who get them out in the mornings and put them up in the evenings. We are always looking for additional tenders so if you have a morning or evening when you can spare approximately 30 minutes to tend the girls, please contact us for information.
“Loved learning about the Bellevue Edible Learning Lab! We were also introduced to the chickens and helped get some of the land ready for some peas. Really enjoyed the day and the education.”
