How Plants Grow

March 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

How Plants Grow Class Info

Has your child ever wondered how plants grow? BELL Gardens has the perfect class for them to learn all about the life cycle of a plant and what it needs to thrive.  In this class your child will begin with a lesson about the process from seed to mature plant, do a fun craft to integrate the lesson and finish with a bean in a bag experiment.  They will be able to take home the bean seed to place to observe as it sprouts.

Your instructors – Jen, Sarah and Wyatt Carter

Jennifer was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest but has lived and traveled extensively throughout the continental United States and Internationally.  After graduating with her MBA, she spent many years in the corporate world while simultaneously homeschooling her two kids and traveling as much as schedules would allow.

In 2020, the family moved to Tennessee from Seattle, WA and Jennifer chose to leave her job and pursue a career change into the field of nursing.  With the move to Tennessee during a time when meeting people and opportunities to become part of the community were sparse, she found BELL gardens.  With her love of being outdoors, healthy food, continuously learning and the community that was found at the Gardens for her and the kids a one-time volunteer opportunity turned into a regular Saturday morning outing.  Most Saturdays you will find Jennifer, Sarah and Wyatt at the gardens getting their hands dirty and helping complete any manner of project that has been dreamed up.

When not at the garden, pursuing her education or educating her kiddos, you will find Jennifer taking a trip to the mountains for hiking, drawing, reading, cooking, or going on a long run.

Sarah is 13 years old and has been homeschooled her whole life.  She loves to spend her Saturdays at BELL gardens and has learned so much working beside all the wonderful volunteers.  In addition to the gardens, she is a bookworm, reading every spare minute that she has, an animal lover (she would love to have an animal rescue sanctuary one day), and is in a Rock Band.

Wyatt is 8 years old and can be found keeping BELL gardens bug free during the warmer months and covered in mud any other time!  He can be found fishing, hiking, shooting his bow and arrows, climbing trees, skateboarding, and building.  If it involves being outside adventures, Wyatt will be the first one there to be involved in the action.  When he does slow down, he loves to draw and invent.
