Why buy your plants from BELL Garden instead of Big Box stores?
All of our plants are either sown and grown by our volunteers or lifted from our garden. Our tomatoes and peppers are grown in Deborah Stillwell’s home grow room and greenhouse before being moved to the garden. Why? These tender plants need to be monitored at least twice daily continually being checked for correct light, heat and water. Deborah raises them in her grow room while they are infants. When they become toddlers, they are moved to her greenhouse. When they are school age they are moved to Belle, one of our hoop houses, and stay there until they graduate and are ready to join you at your home. Constant care by volunteers – talking, encouraging and sometimes singing – make our plants feel loved and happy. Happy plants mean delicious vegetables and flowers for you. All are labeled with a QR code that takes you to an article on our website with growing and care instructions.
